What is a Constituency Association?

What is a Provincial Constituency Association? How does this differ from an Electoral District Association or a Riding Association?

Answer

In Ontario, the riding level political unit is called a Constituency Association. A constituency association is an organization formed in an electoral district to support a provincial political party.

Federally, the same type of body is called an Electoral District Association (EDA).

This Constituency Association is in the provincial electoral district of Pickering--Uxbridge, and supports the Ontario Progressive Conservatives. Our Federal counterpart, which supports the Conservative Party of Canada, can be found here: https://www.pickeringuxbridgeconservative.com

A Constituency Association consists of:

  • A board of directors
    • elected each year at an Annual General Meeting of the membership;
  • The members
    • All individuals who are members of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, and live in the riding of Pickering--Uxbridge are automatically members of the Constituency Association.
