Families in Durham Region will soon have access to a world-class community hub, thanks to a $10 million investment from our Ontario PC government to build the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre. This new facility will give children, parents, and seniors more opportunities to stay active, while also boosting the local economy and supporting jobs.
This investment is part of our government’s $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF), which is revitalizing facilities across the province, promoting active living, and strengthening communities.
With provincial support, Clarington families will soon enjoy:
- A FIBA-standard double gymnasium for basketball and community programs
- A 25-metre lap pool and therapeutic tank to support everything from swim lessons to seniors’ aquatic therapy
- A FIFA-sized indoor turf field for soccer and tournaments
- Five new multi-purpose community spaces
- An outdoor refrigerated skating trail, one of the longest in Ontario
This transformative project will welcome over 50,000 users each year and unlock new opportunities in sport tourism, bringing more events and economic growth to the region.
By getting shovels in the ground, our PC government is protecting local jobs while delivering better services for families. This new centre will not only create a destination for recreation but also help attract major tournaments and competitions; boosting local businesses and creating lasting economic benefits for the community.
The South Bowmanville Recreation Centre is just one example of how the Ontario PC government is delivering for people across the province. Under Premier Doug Ford’s leadership, we are making a historic $200 billion investment in critical infrastructure, including highways, hospitals, schools, transit, and recreation facilities, to build a stronger Ontario for generations to come.
